The foundation of the family business was laid by Marianne Winkelmann’s (née Hodes) great-great-grandparents. The idea was born to bring people together with good conversation and delicious home cooking. Even back then, it was important to the family to offer guests a refuge to leave the stresses and strains of everyday life behind, to recharge their batteries.
Work was hard at those times and the technical conveniences were still far away. It was therefore e more important for the guests to have a place where they could switch off. Today one would talk about deceleration, leaving the stress of everyday life behind.
